Known for its beautiful winter color, this Willow has many practical uses. It can be grown as a tree or kept trimmed or coppicced/pollarded into a multi stemmed shrub which best shows off its yellow/red stems.
Golden Willow can be used for making baskets, living structures, furniture making, fuel biomass.
Great for damp areas, next to streams or ponds. Do not plant willows close to buildings, near water pipes or septic systems. They have very extensive root system that seek water and can infiltrate your pipes, foundation etc.
Willow can be used to make a natural rooting hormone. Take a branch, cut it into 1 inch pieces, place in a glass jar (mason jar is good) cover with boiling water (1 part stems, 2 parts water), leave for at least 24 hours. Strain twigs out and refrigerate for longer life. Dip cuttings and plant.
